The key material of the issue is the first part of big article by Andrey Myasnikov and Michael Kuchenev about the trip to the Great Britain to the annual festival of tram models in Manchester. Besides the description of the festival which was a lot interesting, authors also tell about the English remarkable railways and a municipal transportation. The material abounds author's photos, which finely illustrate the text. Except that, the issue has a continuation of a narration by Pavel Puzanov about evolution of Moscow Metro payment system; the ending of the story by Michael Egorov about the sloppiness that reigned in the Moscow municipal transportation in 1960 - 70 years, Michael Kuchenev's report on the first meeting of electrotransport amateurs in Nizhny Novgorod, and also traditional materials on model making by Leonid Moskalev and Michael Egorov.

Our dear authors continue to acquaint readers with a history and the present state of railways of foreign countries. Particularly, this issue brings the beginning of the article by Dmitry Nosov about railways of Mongolia and the ending of Leonid Smirnov's narration about the Bulgarian railways. Those readers who prefer reading about Russian railways will find Vladimir Burakshaev's material about Mesherskaya narrow-gauge railway and also the story about retro-tour to the Olonetskiy Region, this time described by Feodor Sofronov - the art and music critic. Nikolay Sedykh, the participant of China events of 1945, continues to publish his memoirs. In our opinion, it will be reasonably interesting for you to get acquainted with the process of making EMU-trains of EM series, which have received a nickname "White Death", and were manufactured at the Moscow Locomotive Repair Works (the MLRZ). Pavel Mihailushkin, a student of Moscow Railway Transport University (the MIIT) shares it. In this issue there is also a chronicle of the last events in Russian locomotive engineering and the amateur movement, traditional materials on models making, and the literary page where another story by Leonid Moskalev is published.

The historical sketch is devoted to an outstanding engineering construction, the last one of known engineer Nikolay A. Belelubskiy, who constructed almost 100 bridges in Russia. The Simbirsk ferry was his latest work, and the most popular. This construction promoted prompt development of Zavolzhie, strengthening connections with the European Russia, increasing Simbirsk's role as a large transport unit. The sketch is based on the big volume of an archival material for the first time submitted for evaluation of a wide audience. The history of bridge transition from 1908 to 2006 is consistently reflected, the course of designing, construction, operation and reconstruction of the bridge is covered in detail. A fire at the construction (July 7, 1914) and an accident with steam ship "Alexander Suvorov" (June 5, 1983) are also described in detail.

The anthology opens the story about the development and the modern condition of the Ivanovo tram constructed in 1934. The history of designing and construction of the Novocherkassk tram that appeared 20 years after the Ivanovo "colleague" has been described in the same detail. The anthology also informs on a symbol of an adjusted life of Abkhazia - the Sukhumy trolley bus. Doubtless interest is represented with a clause on tram cars LT-5 of manufacture of Lugansky Works, which almost disappeared from the Moscow streets. Continuation of the story about travel to the tram cities of England will not leave indifferent fans of tram olden times and the present. It is possible to see what not indifferent and keen people can make of the story of the National Tram Museum. In the finishing part of the clause about all variety of tickets of the Moscow underground it is possible to learn, how the system of payment of travel of capital underground has changed and developed in the last years.

The issue begins with articles on the activity of Russian Society of Railway Fans (the VOLZhD). An optimistic, even somewhat pompous report by A. Vulfov, the Society's Chairman, is published along with totally opposite opinion of Leonid Svatikov, who thinks that the Society does not follow the aims it was created for anymore. Another issue, recently discussed during one of the conferences, was organization of retro-tours and railway tourism in Russia. It is covered in Nikolai Karavaev's article. He also covers a meeting of JSC "RZD" (Russian Railways) management representatives with students, held recently in Moscow Railway Transport University (the MIIT) and devoted to the issue of preserving and popularization of our railways' history. Additionally, in this issue you will find the continuation of Nikolai Sedykh's article on Chinese-Western Railway, Maxim Schwarz's material on European railways, the first years of Moscow Railway Modeling Club by Lev Ragozin. Vitaly Vlasenko begins the retelling of his journey from Rostov to Sakhalin; there is also some traditional material on modelism and some other things.
